Maker Faire Direction Post World Maker Faire 2015 New York City

A couple of weekends ago I jumped on a bus up to New York City and spent almost no time in Manhattan.  It was the first time for me.  I was in Queens to be exact, attending World Maker Fair 2015.

For anyone that is not familiar, Maker Faire is a celebration of arts, crafts, engineering, science projects, the do it yourself mindset and the people that do them. Created by Make magazine the first Maker Faire was held on 2006, and has only grown to massive levels. The event in New York just didn’t seem to end.

Some of the things you could see ranged from wearable 3D prints to a guy that draws with a sewing machine.  3D printers and people doing creative things with 3D printing in general had perhaps the biggest showing. The R2-D2 builders were there with their astrodroid creations. Both Arduino and Raspberry Pi had talks and booths showing what you can do with them. And most importantly, kids were everywhere getting involved and learning about making.

This was a great event and I can’t wait to attend more upcoming Maker Fairs and I encourage anyone in a city with one to attend. Below are some more photos of the event.
