Reclaimed Desk Washington Monument

I’ve been meaning to post about this project for a long time, but couldn’t managed to make time.  However since this piece has sold and I mentioned on it on my podcast I figured I would make the time to post some images.

I first found this “desk” at a large community yard sale during a trip to Delaware.  The desk, once a washstand, had seen better days when I found it.  The basin was removed, the top broken, and the wood needed refinishing.

I rebuilt and reinforced the top, before taking apart and reassembling the entire “desk”. I repainted the entire thing before adding the final touch.  I took the photograph of the Washington Monument (applied to the top) from the rooftop of my friends building, near the National Cathedral, the highest point in the City.

I’m really proud of how it turned out and I hope everyone likes it. A couple of more photos below:
